Learners from The Central Catering Academy hosted a joint Christmas dinner for staff and learners at the new Central Park site on 21st December. The 3 course menu was well received by both staff and learners; Christmas music, crackers and party poppers added to the festive feel. Gary Wiswell Director of Central Training added "It's great to see these young people on our Academy Apprenticeship programme develop in both skills and confidence in such a relative short period of time" The Catering Academy learners started their 12 month employment with Central Training in October and have developed and run the catering facility at Central Park, they regularly cook and serve pre and post-match meals for the Wigan Warriors elite young players, as well as external outside catering events in and around the Wigan borough. Due to the success of the Hospitality & Catering Apprenticeships Lisa Nandy, Labour MP for Wigan and Cllr Jeanette Prescott dropped into Central Park to meet some of the apprentices.
